Well I'm back from Top Drawer, got lots of work to do but wanted to share this video we made. Unless you have exhibited at a trade show you probably have no idea what the set up process is like... so here it is!

We had a great show and thoroughly enjoyed seeing our lovely stockists and lovely card buddies. Another Top Drawer post will be coming soon with some pics of our lovely trade show friends.

It's all go in the Strawberry HQ this week, we are frantically getting ready for our first trade show of the year, Top Drawer Spring 2012!

We're very excited to be launching 2 fabulous new ranges at the show as well as using a fabulous vintage 1950's bar as my desk! G&T anyone!?

We LOVE - Smithson Gallery Pop Up Shop!

My very good friend and collaborator Anna Smithson of Smithson Gallery has opened the most gorgeous Pop Up Shop in the whole world! Well I know I would say that, but honestly, thats true.

Smithson Gallery & Gifts has been open for it;s first week and has gone down a storm with Bristol shoppers. It's open until Christmas Eve and has something for everyone. There is a beautiful Gallery area with work from artists like Clare Cutts and Jayson Lilley amongst others. There is also a fabulous mix of gifts from cards and wrap to notebooks and Dog Bananas!

Definitely worth heading there with your Christmas list and get your loved ones something a bit special this year.

Situated on the Glass walk, next to Dwell and the Sony Centre, there is a Starbucks nearby to rest your weary legs after all that shopping!

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health,

specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shave face and then for the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Mo Sistas are the women who register to support the men in their lives, raising funds by seeking sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

Not only is this a truly great cause, from a design point of view I absolutely love their style and design of the marketing/website etc etc.

Whilst geeking on Google Analytics last night I noticed that I had quite a few visitors to my site from a lovely blog by Emma Lamb. Intrigued by what had been written I searched my name on her site and found this really lovely post about my Bloom range.

We all get to an age when our friends and siblings are all having babies, amazing and gorgeous as this is, each year passes, the memory gets worse and the birthdays become more frequent, even if you remember the date, how old are they?!

So I thought I'd have a look online for a nice Birthday Book and I found this corker...

As part of my new resolution that I'll only ever buy and use things that are lovely, good quality and 'a keeper' this ticks all the boxes. It's from a company called Kiki James and the cover text can be personalised. It is a whopping £19 but is very gorgeous and is something you will keep forever.

As a card publisher who is terrible at remembering birthdays I think this is a must!

Copying in Design

I find it very sad indeed when people who claim to be 'designers' copy other designers work. I woke up this morning to an email from a lovely girl telling me she had come across a poster which seemed suspiciously like mine...

The internet is such an amazing tool to find inspiration, connect with other design influences and find resources but there is always the few people who take advantage. This copy was produced by a 'graphic designer' in Dan Diego and whilst it's flattering to think she liked the design enough to copy it, it's never an acceptable thing to do.

I love that the internet allows us to share and inspire each other and although it also makes it easier for those few people to copy others, it also makes it easier to find them!

Unbeknown to many we not only design our own cards and posters but on occasions we are asked to design for other folk too.

We can do anything from logo design, web design, stationery, company branding and illustrations. We love to design and thoroughly enjoy working with a diverse range of lovely clients.

The most recent project was to create a website and branding for Kamin Mohammadi, a writer, journalist and broadcaster specialising in Iran.

I want, I want, I want!

Just wanted to share this with you as I am in LOVE with it!

Cornishware, usually known for its lovely blue design has been a popular collectable set for years. For a short time in the 50's they produced a red set, this wasn't around for long as the red was a very difficult colour to produce and reproduce with consistancy so it was dropped.

T.G Green, who made Cornishware in the 1920's have now developed a way of getting the right red everytime and are now making the full range of 50 items.

They also offer a personalisation service on mugs and jars. What a perfect present idea, especially as it comes in this lovely packaging.

This week I want to share the Friday LOVE for the fantastic Daunt Books in London. They have been a great stockist of ours for a few years now and are a delight to supply.

Daunt Books is an original Edwardian bookshop with long oak galleries and graceful skylights situated in Marylebone High Street, London. They also have shops in Chelsea, Holland Park, Cheapside, Hampstead and Belsize Park.

My boyfriend's gorgeous sister, writer Clare Naylor is a regular shopper at Daunt and as with many of their customers, returns time and time again for the great service and fabulous surroundings.

Top Drawer trade show

I've finally got round to downloading my pictures of Top Drawer a couple of weekends ago. I had great show, got to see lots of lovely buyers and hung out with my fellow card buddies.

Trade Show

Well the time is nearly here and I've been super organised this time, fingers crossed it'll go well. I actually really love doing trade shows, I get to see my lovely suppliers, hopefully meet some lovely new suppliers and get to hang out with my card buddies.

I have to say that on the whole the greetings card industry is so nice, the buyers are friendly and chatty and competitors become friends... aahh the lovely life of the card publisher!

I usually have horrific stand envy when I see everyone else's stand, hopefully this time mine will stand up to the competition. Top drawer is particularly great and makes you very proud to be amongst such great UK design talent. Here is one of my last stands...

I've got plenty of new designs to see and will be launching the fab new Wonderland range...

I really enjoy planning for the show and this time I'm using some wood vinyl to stand out from the crowd, i hope it looks as good as the plan!

Well having no house DIY to do anymore I felt the need to decorate something! I rescued an old boring and a bit rusty filing cabinet from my dads garage last weekend. So my project to revamp a filing cabinet began this weekend.

I had the most gorgeous Matthew Williamson wallpaper left over from our old house and have been desperate to do something with it.

I started my adding casters. These came off an old display unit I used at trade shows. Once I've filled this cabinet it's going to weigh a tonne and I know how much I like to rearrange things so for once in my life I've planned ahead!!

Once the casters were on it was time to spray the sides. I knew it would be a nightmare to line the paper up on all sides so I decided to spray the edges in a matt black to break it all up a bit.

I love using spray paints (not because of the toxic smell!) but because it's such an instant result and it goes on brilliantly. Although I do have to hold myself back and remember that several light coats is better than just doing 1 think drippy coat!

Then basically it was the fun bit! I started with the top and just worked round the sides then did the fiddly drawers last.

I'm so pleased with the result, now I just need to do the numerous coats of varnish to make it a bit more hardwearing. There are so many great wallpapers in the shops now and it's such an easy way to jazz up a piece of furniture. I got this wallpaper from B&Q in the sale rack for £1 per roll! Criminal!

Spring time walk

Just downloaded the photo's I took on my phone before the battery ran out. We went for a lovely walk along the river on Sat after a mooch around a flea market - pretty much a perfect day for me. It's amazing how much the weather effects your energy.

Well coming back from holidays are always hard, all that relaxation just washes away and you have to pat yourself dry to try and save the tan! We had such a fab time though and looking through the photo's are helping.

I did manage to achieve some work while I was away and have got back the digital cards of the new range which still doesn't have a name! This is very unlike me, I usually have a name before the designs! Anyhoo, I hope you like them as much as I do. They'll be on the website soon as well as some sweet origami badges... fun fun fun!

I'm feeling very ashamed that it's take until today to say that. Better late than never as they say. As the Big Freeze starts to melt away it's probably a good time to share some pics from my drive home for Christmas. I know the snow has been a pain for a lot of people but it sure is pretty!
